The Association of Community Developers in Békés County was established in 1993, but the association started his work in the 1990's. The founders were those students who took part in a community developer training organized by the County Cultural Centre. Finishing the course they became a real professional community. The association was founded to try to urge, to help - first of all in the disadvantaged villages and areas - the community life, and to develop the local societies and to strengthen them.

The main aim and the mission of the association:

To encourage and to supply with information: those who are working on building out and developing local communities. In the association take part social workers, cultural managers, teachers, businessmen, and leaders of nongovernmental organizations.

The main activities done by the association:

1.) Association of Community Developers in Békés County works County Civil Service Centre:
We are providing for the organizations and associations in Békés County, we are in touch with about 400 associations, organizations in the next topics:
- Giving information, database is worked by us
- Advising: in law, in financial, in tenders
- Organizing trainings - in settlements, small regions, counties, regions, and in national and international level - 10-15 occasions in a year.
- There is a monthly paper - Sunflower - published by the association. About 400 nongovernmental organizations get it.
- Our association works the civilek.csabanet.hu homepage. Beyond the fresh information is possible to find a database about more than 1200 organizations in Békés County.
- We try to strengthen the cooperation between the organizations and local authorities, take part in opinion process about the decision preparation for councils and in working out civil strategies for the town and county, and we take part in situation analysing in the third sector and to complete developing programmes.
- Our association works the County Civil Methodological Workshop. Its members are those people who work in providing institutions that give professional help for the third sector.
- Our special task to train settlement and community developer recruitment in Békés County. We have about 10-15 students in a year who finish our courses, and later they will be new members in our association.

Our partner is in working County Civil Service Centre the Office of Csabai Civil s, and the Self-government of Békéscsaba.

2.) Need exploration and community developer programmes coming from it:
In the last years we had settlement exploration works in the disadvantaged settlements of Békés County, and we started community developer programmes building on it. For examples: Kötegyán, small region of Szeghalom.
With the financial aid of Charles Mott Foundation we started - in the north-eastern region of Békés County (Szeghalom and its nearby) - a cooperation-helping project between civil organizations with the participation of ten settlements. Its mainly aim is to strengthen the enforcing the civil organizations interest with information. In the country these project is going on on four spots experimentally.

3.) Partnership - relations - network building:
We work in professional papers connecting for the civil organizations in small regions and county. We help the civil organizations from our county taking part in regional and country conferences and professional workshops. We coordinate the participation of county civil organizations in the Civiliáda.
Taking part in the work of training centres as teachers, and make up papers for the train of civil organizations. In the year of EU connection we organized presentations about "Partnership" for self-governments and civil organizations.

4.) International relations:
We are in an 8 years old professional relation with Mont Blanc Adult Education Centre (in Savoy region of France), and we work together for 5 years ago with Crest Resource Centre in Romania.
